I Just published a paper in which I propose to construct a 5-10 km diameter and 50-100 km high mountain like tube construction and then evacuate it so that the air pressure in that tube is close to the space vacuum. then in that way a vacuum region is created fr space ships launches and also for vacuum experiments but then big scale.
